mary's sugar cookies
| Measure | Ingredient |

| 1½ cup | Confectioner's sugar |
| (sifted) | |
| ¾ cup | Butter |
| 1 | Egg |
| 2½ cup | Flour |
| 1 teaspoon | Vanilla |
| 1 teaspoon | Almond flavoring |
| 1 teaspoon | Soda |
| 1 teaspoon | Cream of tartar |
Cream butter & sugar. Mix in egg & flavorings. Mix dry ingredients & blend into above mixture, dough will be stiff. Can refrigerate a few min. or can make into balls & place on a cookie sheet about 1½ to 2 inches apart. Press down with a fork. Place pecan on each cookie (optional) & bake at 375 degrees until brown.
