Lumberjack cookies

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar - plus 1/4 cup to roll

1 cup Shortening
1 cup DARK molasses (the darker

2 \N Eggs
4 cups Sifted flour (actually may
\N \N Take more, till the dough
\N \N Makes balls easily)
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Ground ginger

Cream together 1 cup sugar and shortening. Add molasses and eggs. Mix well. Sift together dry ingredients and add in. Put ¼ cup sugar in bowl. Make balls of dough, roll them in sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 F 12 - 15 minutes. (baked longer, they are VERY hard)
