|1 small||Onion, diced|
|½||Head cabbage, chopped fine|
|2 smalls||Apples, diced|
|3 tablespoons||Brown sugar|
|1½ teaspoon||Caraway seed|
|1 large||Can sauerkraut|
|2 pounds||Any smoked sausage, cut up|
|Into 2-inch pieces|
Fry bacon until crisp; add onion. Fry onion until golden brown. Chop fresh cabbage; add ½ cup water and simmer until cabbage is soft.
Add diced apples, caraway seed and brown sugar. Now add the sauerkraut. Mix well; add the smoked sausage and cook all the ingredients for 1 hour or bake in the oven for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
