|¾ cup||Granulated Sugar|
Squeeze enough lemons to make ¾ cup of juice, about 4. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, 1 cup of water and the skins left after squeezing the juice. Cover; simmer for 6 minutes and cool. Discard the lemon skins. Add the lemon juice and 4 cups of water to the lemon syrup. Taste and add more sugar if needed. Serve with ice, thin lemon slices or grated lemon rind or cherries, strawberries or chopped mint or mint sprigs as garnish.
Limeade: Make Lemonade except use ¾ c fresh lime juice (about 8) for the lemon juice and the lime skins for the lemon skins.
