| Measure | Ingredient |

| 2 cups | Sugar |
| 2 cups | Karo (red label) syrup |
| ½ cup | Hot water |
| 1 | Lump of butter (about 1 tb) |
| ½ pounds | Or more raw peanuts rolled with a rolling pin |
| 1 teaspoon | Baking soda |
Boil sugar, syrup, water, and butter until golden brown stirring often. Add baking soda to the raw peanuts. Grease a cookie sheet. Pour peanuts into the syrup. Remove from the fire AT ONCE. Pour on on the greased cookie sheet, smoothing over into a thin layer.
When cooled, crack up into serving pieces.
