"Mom is well known for her wonderful hush puppies. Her recipe is easy to prepare and gives tasty results. The chopped onion adds to the great flavor." - Mary McGuire In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. Add the egg, milk and onion; stir just until mixed. In a deep-fat fryer or electric skillet, heat oil to 365 degrees. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into oil. Fry 2 to 2½ minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
