German-style dinner

Measure Ingredient
2 cups Sauerkraut, fresh
2 larges Apples, cored & thinly slice
1 large Onion; finely chopped
2 cups Potatoes, peel & thinly slic
1½ cup Rutabaga cubes; peeled
6 ounces Ham steak, reduced-sodium or regular; cut in small pieces
2 \N Bay leaves
⅛ teaspoon Black pepper
¾ cup Cranberry juice cocktail or apple cider
1½ tablespoon Light brown sugar; packed

Add bay leaves and pepper. In small bowl, mix together cranberry juice and brown sugar. Pour over sauerkraut mixture.

Cover and cook on high heat 1 hour. Stir mixture. Reduce heat to low, and cook an additional 6 to 7 hours.
