In a heavy saucepan, combine water, milk, oats and salt; place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to achieve a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the prunes, apples and cinnamon to taste; continue to simmer, stirring frequently, until tender, about 5 minutes more. Spoon into bowls. Pass milk and sugar at the table. Yield: 4 servings.
