Date trillbies

Yield: 2 Dozen

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Butter or margerine
1 cup Brown sugar
½ cup Water
2½ cup Rolled oats
2½ cup Flour, sifted
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt

Cream butter and brown sugar. Add water and rolled oats. Mix well.

Add flour sifted with salt and soda. Divide dough in half, roll and cut out in round shapes (about 3-inch diameter). Drop date filling (below) on one half and fold over to seal. Filling: Cook together until thick; ½ lb pitted dates, 1 cup brown sugar, ½ cup water, 1 T. lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
