cranberry cheese bread

2 cups Fresh or frozen cranberries
2 cups Flour
1 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Grated orange peel
1½ cup Shredded Cheddar cheese
½ cup Coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
1 cup Milk
Egg; slightly beaten
¼ cup Melted butter

Halve cranberries; set aside. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add cranberries, cheese and nuts. Toss to combine. Combine milk, egg, butter and orange peel. Add to flour mixture all at once, stirring only until all dry ingredients are moistened. Turn into a greased 9 x 5 x 2 loaf pan. Bake at 350F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
