coal miner's cake
| Measure | Ingredient |

| 1 pack | Devil's food cake mix |
| 1 can | Cherry pie filling |
| 2 | Eggs |
| 1 teaspoon | Vanilla |
| 1 cup | Sugar |
| 1 | Stick butter or margarine |
| ¼ cup | Evaporated milk |
| 6 ounces | Chocolate chips |
| ½ cup | Pecans or walnuts; chopped |
TOPPING
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 4 ingredients. Bake in a 9x13x2 inch pan for 30 to 35 minutes.
*** Topping *** In saucepan, combine sugar, butter and evaporated milk.
Bring to a boil over low heat. Boil for 1 minute. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Immediately pour over hot cake. Can be served hot or cold. Very rich.
