Chocolate refreshers

Measure Ingredient
1¼ cup Sifted Pillsbury's BEST all purpose flour
¾ teaspoon Soda
½ teaspoon Salt
1¼ cup Dates; cut in pieces
¾ cup Firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup Water
½ cup Butter
1 cup Nestle's Semi-Sweet Morsels
2 \N Unbeaten eggs
½ cup Orange juice
½ cup Milk
1 cup Chopped walnuts
1½ cup Sifted confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons Soft butter
1 teaspoon Grated orange rind; (up to 2)
2 tablespoons Cream; (up to 3)

ORANGE GLAZE

And here's a recipe from the Pillsbury Bake-Off contest #11 - many years ago.

Sift flour with soda and salt. Combine dates, brown sugar, water, butter in large saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until dates soften. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate morsels; beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with orange juice and milk. Blend thoroughly after each addition. Stir in walnuts. Bake in well-greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly roll pan at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool. Spread with glaze.

Cut in bars.

Orange Glaze: Combine sugar, butter and orange rind. Blend in cream until spreading consistency.
