Chocolate custard cake

Measure Ingredient
3 \N Squares Unsweetened Chocolate
½ cup Milk
1 \N Egg; Well Beaten
⅔ cup Sugar
½ cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
2 \N Egg Yolks; Well Beaten
2 cups Cake Flour; Sifted
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 cup Milk

CUSTARD

BATTER

Cook chocolate, milk, egg and sugar to custard stage. Cool completely. Beat butter, sugar and egg yolks until fluffy. Add alternately dry ingredients with liquid. Blend in cooled chocolate custard.

Bake 350 degrees in 8 inch pans. 25-30 minutes. Do not overbake.

NOTES : When I was a student nurse, a volunteer RN brought this cake in weekly. She frosted it was a chocolate frosting. I This is our family's favorite. I use a white frosting.
