| Measure | Ingredient |

| 1 cup | Soy sauce |
| 1½ cup | Water |
| ½ cup | Granulated sugar |
| 4 teaspoons | Hoisin sauce |
| 4 teaspoons | Minced garlic |
| 2 pounds | Spare ribs |
Mix together the first five ingredients in a bowl. Fit the ribs snugly into a bowl or pan and pour the marinade over. Cover and refrigerate for 6 hours to overnight.
Grill or broil spareribs, turning once until done, about 15 minutes.
Serve.
