1½ cup | Sugar |

1½ teaspoon | Cream of tartar |
¼ teaspoon | Salt |
½ teaspoon | Almond flavoring |
1 teaspoon | Vanilla |
¼ cup | Chopped maraschino cherries |

\N \N | Whole maraschino cherries |
Sift flour and ¼ cup of the sugar together 3 times. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until soft peaks form. Beat in remaining ¼ cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Continue beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in almond flavoring and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients, 2 tablespoons at a time, over beaten egg whites. Fold in gently with a wire whip. Fold in cherries. Carefully push batter into an ungreased 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes, or until done.
Invert pan; let cool for 1 hour. Just before serving, frost with whipped cream and decorate with whole cherries. Randy Rigg Submitted By RANDY RIGG On 10-01-94
