Beefy spanish rice

Yield: 6 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Ground beef, extra lean
1 medium Onion -- chopped
1 medium Green pepper -- chopped
1 \N Clove garlic -- minced
1 can Stewed tomatoes -- 14 1/2
\N \N Oz
1½ cup Water
1 cup Long-grain rice -- uncooked
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Chili powder
1¼ teaspoon Dried thyme
¼ teaspoon Dried basil
¼ teaspoon Pepper
2 tablespoons Tomato paste

In large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, green pepper and garlic until the meat is browned; drain. Stir in the next eight ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 min. or until the rice is tender. Stir in tomato paste and heat through. Serve with French bread. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
