½ cup | Sugar |
½ cup | Brown sugar |
1 cup | Shortening |
1 \N | Egg |
1 teaspoon | Vanilla |
1 teaspoon | Cream of tartar |
2 cups | Flour |
½ teaspoon | Salt |
1 teaspoon | Baking soda |
Cream sugar, brown sugar and shortening. Add vanilla and egg. Blend until fluffy. Add the dry ingredients; blend. Roll teaspoonfuls into balls. Dip into water and then into granulated sugar. Lay on cookie sheet, sugar side up, then flatten with a glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
