|4 cups||To 4 1/2 C unsifted all- purpose flour|
|1 tablespoon||Baking powder|
|1 cup||(2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened|
|1 tablespoon||Vanilla extract|
|1 cup||Sliced natural almonds|
|1 cup||Slivered blanched almonds|

Divide dough into 6 equal pieces.
4. Shape each piece into an 8- by 2-inch log and place across large baking sheet. Brush with reserved egg white.
